A public fashion parade,
showcasing nearly 3,084 models, dressed in clothes created by amateur
designers and fashion design students, has been recently organized at
Chapultepec Park, Mexico City.
Dubbed as El
desfile más grande del mundo (meaning The World’s Largest Parade), the
event showcased an array of relaxed streetwear styles mixed with
indigenous designs, inspired from the dresses sported by Mexico’s rural
and urban people.
Jointly organized by the
‘Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Moda Casa de Francia’ and the city
mayor office, the show saw models parading in hip-hop style graffiti
adorned baggy clothes, printed with pre-Columbian Mayan
culture-influenced symbols.
The parade was
designed with the aim to break the Philippines’ Makati City’s famous
world record creating catwalk, featuring 2,225 models on the ramp.
Held at the Glorietta Mall in December, 2012, the show named ‘Move to
the Vibe of Glorietta’ was organized to put Philippines high on the
world’s fashion map.
The event bagged the coveted Guinness World Record approved title ‘Most people walking on a catwalk’.
